Te Tiriti o Waitangi celebrations @ your library
Visit Tauranga library during February to find information about the founding document of New Zealand, Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Discover a variety of resources from our Maori Collection and join us for activities and free seminars to celebrate this significant chapter of New Zealand’s history.
- Friday 3 February - Be entertained by a performance from a locally based kapa haka group, Te Whanau Mai Tawhiti, from 10.30 – 11.30am (Children and Teenagers’ Collection)
- Tuesday 7 February - Listen to local educator Tuari Reweti deliver a presentation on the Spirit of Waitangi from 10.30 – 11.30am
- Wednesday 8 February - Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Otepou to close the Tauranga City Libraries Spirit of Waitangi Celebrations - from 10.30 – 11.30am (Children and Teenagers’ Collection)
Competitions!
Enter the Spirit of Waitangi online quiz competition ( for ages 11-16 years) or win prizes for the Spirit of Waitangi Colouring competition (for ages 2-10 years) - they both close Wednesday 8 February 2012. You can enter the colouring competition by going into Willow Street Library and creating your entry there.
Displays
Visit the Tauranga Library to view Maori art displayed throughout the library and the Taonga exhibition in the New Zealand Room on Level 1. Display ends 29 February 2012.
