Computer Learning

Computer use and internet access

We have desktop computers and Chromebooks available to members of the public. Headsets are required for watching movies or listening to music.

Our devices, software, and internet are provided by the National Library through the Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa (APNK). You must abide by APNK's computer-use policy when using our computers.

Time allowance for using the computers is 60 minutes for both library card holders and guest passes. Please talk to library staff if you require more time.

Creating and editing documents can be done online using services such as Google Docs or Office 365. If you want to create or edit documents, you will require a Google or Microsoft account.

Are you a researcher, historian or have an interest in tracing your family history?

Children using computers and internet enabled devices

While library staff will assist children in the safe use of the internet, this does not mean that the staff accept the responsibility for supervising that use. Parents and caregivers have the primary responsibility for supervising their children’s use of the internet while using Tauranga City libraries computers and accessing the public wifi network.
