Homework resources
There are some great resources out there to help with your homework. Here a few online resources that you may find useful. We also have a comprehensive collection of books at all our libraries, and library staff are happy to assist with your search.
General
Any Questions: free online schoolwork help for both primary and secondary school children. You can log on between 1pm and 6pm Monday to Friday and talk to a librarian about your schoolwork.
Many Answers: for those times the librarians are not online at Any Questions, Many Answers helps with commonly asked homework questions.
Britannica Library: An online and interactive version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, with levels of content suitable for children, teens and adults.
National Geographic Kids: includes articles, images and videos on a range of exciting topics, including animals, places, science and nature and history.
Science Learning Hub: explore New Zealand resources covering science, technology and engineering collected by topic and concept.
Local History
Tauranga Memories: A digital resource covering Tauranga local history, Tauranga Moana Tangata Whenua, Katikati Local History and Remembering War. It includes contributions from library staff and the community.
New Zealand
Te Ara - the encyclopaedia of New Zealand: comprehensive guide to New Zealand people, culture, natural environment, history, economy and society.
Te Ara Biography: contains biographies of people who have 'made their mark' on New Zealand. It does not include people who are alive.
New Zealand History: informative site exploring the history of New Zealand’s culture and society, politics and government and the impact of war.
Digital NZ: discover New Zealand items, including aerial photos, posters, newspapers, artwork and much more, from the digital stores of libraries, museums, archives, communities, and government.
ANZAC Day: a guide to ANZAC Day for New Zealanders.
28th Māori Battalion: site dedicated to the men who served with the 28th Māori Battalion during World War Two.
Vietnam War: memories of New Zealand and the Vietnam War.
