Tauranga Library is on the move

Tauranga City Council has exciting plans underway to redevelop the civic precinct in the centre of Tauranga.

This is all part of the wider strategy to transform and revitalise the city centre into a place that our community is proud of, and that people want to visit.

To make way for the new civic precinct, Tauranga Library is relocating from its current site at Willow Street to a new, interim site - He Puna Manawa (formerly the Goddard’s Centre) – located between Grey Street and Devonport Road.

To allow for our extensive collection of resources and books to be relocated to He Puna Manawa, the library will be closed from 4pm on Sunday 6 March, and will re-open at He Puna Manawa on Monday 4 April.

You’ll be able to drop items off at the after-hours slot at Willow Street until 28 March, and you can still access Greerton, Mount Maunganui and Pāpāmoa Library, the Mobile library, as well as our Digital Library.
