Become a member

It is quick and easy to join the library. Library membership is free to all residents of Tauranga and the surrounding area. You can also join for free if you live in the following locations: Whakatāne, Ōpōtiki, Edgecumbe, Kawerau, Rotorua, Taupō, Te Puke, Katikati, and Waihi Beach.
All you need is:

  1. Proof of identity, with your name and signature, such as driver’s licence, student I.D., or passport.
  2. Proof of your home address, such as a power bill or bank statement addressed to you. If you don’t have proof of address, your library membership can be posted to you.

Visit any of our libraries to join or apply online below. You have 14 days to collect your card after application.

You can join Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga City Libraries if you are under 18. You will need a parent or guardian to be the guarantor for the membership. Your parent or guardian will need to provide I.D. and proof of address. Once the membership is set up, you will be able to use your library card without your parent or guardian present.
