Book Club Kits include ten copies of titles that you can read with your book club. They’re mainly contemporary fiction but you may also find some classic titles and non-fiction as well.
All books in the kit are numbered and we’ll include a sheet that you can use to keep track of who has each copy. There’ll also be a list of questions or discussion points that you can use with your group.
How can my book club borrow a kit?
Kits are issued to one person’s card as a single item (so although there are 10 books in the kit, it will show as one item on your card). The person borrowing the kit is responsible for returning it back to a staff member at the library it was borrowed from.
Which libraries can I pick up a kit from?
Book Club Kits are currently available from Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga Library.
How do I return the kit?
Please return the kit to a staff member at the Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga Library during opening hours. They cannot be returned through the after-hours slot. Our staff will check the contents of the kit while you’re there and return it off your card.
How long can my book club keep the kit for?
The loan period is six weeks, with no renewals.
Can we reserve a specific kit?
No. Since we can’t guarantee when they will be returned and when the next book club will want them, kits will be available on a first come, first served basis.
What if a book gets lost or damaged?
Lost or damaged books are charged at $25 per item. The charge will be added to the card of the customer who borrowed the kit.
What if I return the kit late?
No fees are charged for late returns.
