Join us at the beautiful Village Cinema to see vintage footage taken in Tauranga in the 1950s, 60s and 70s by Norman Blackie, an amateur filmmaker who lived much of his life here.

Te Ao Mārama – Tauranga City Libraries has 22 of Norman Blackies’ films taken in Tauranga. We have put together a compilation for a special viewing on the big screen. Filming covered big events like visits from the Royal Family, the many Orange Festivals, and the launching of Te Awanui, plus many more. Get a glimpse into the goings on of the 60’s and 70’s Tauranga in the beautiful Village Cinema.

Drop-in any time throughout the session.
