Share Your Cultural Story - Art Workshops
Be part of inspiring a meaningful new artwork that celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Tauranga. We’re inviting people from all cultures, backgrounds, and communities to join local artist Lynette Fisher for a hands-on workshop where your stories, symbols, and traditions will help guide the creation of a large floral-themed artwork for our new Library and Community Hub.
These free, family-friendly workshops are a space to:
• Share what represents your culture and identity
• Explore the many ways flowers can symbolise heritage and culture.
• Contribute ideas, patterns, colours and stories from your cultural background
• Work together to create an inspiration mood board that Lynette will use as a reference when developing the final artwork.
• Meet and collaborate with Lynette, who is passionate about reflecting community voices in her work
We especially welcome people from multicultural backgrounds to take part—your input will help ensure this artwork truly reflects the richness of our city.
We welcome you to attend one of the following workshop dates:
• Workshop 1: Thursday 16 April, 5.30-7pm
• Workshop 2: Tuesday 21 April, 5.30-7pm
• Workshop 3: Saturday 2 May, 1.30-3pm
Come along, share your culture, and help inspire a unique community artwork that will be proudly displayed in the heart of Tauranga’s city centre—Te Manawataki o Te Papa.
When you select ‘Get Tickets’ a calendar will appear—select your preferred date and time, then enter your details to confirm your booking.
