Discover Chile through Cueca!

Join the Kunza Cultural Group for an interactive journey into Cueca and celebrate Spanish Language Week (24 - 30 August 2026) together!

Cueca is Chile's traditional national dance and an important cultural expression which brings together music, poetry, movement, regional identity, and the social traditions of Chile's rural communities. Officially declared Chile's National Dance in 1979, Cueca continues to be an important symbol of Chilean heritage.

This workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the history and cultural significance of Cueca in Chile, followed by a live dance performance. Participants will then be invited to learn some of the basic steps. Throughout the workshop, both Spanish and English will be woven together to create an engaging language and cultural exchange. To conclude, a traditional Chilean myth will be shared about the arrival of the Spanish language in Chile. Every participant will receive a bilingual (Spanish and English) copy of the story to take home as a keepsake.

Come dance, learn, laugh, and experience a vibrant piece of Chilean tradition! No prior dance experience is needed.

Registration is required, all ages are welcome.
