Mahi Rākau (stick work) is one of the self-help, self-healing practices of our Māori Healing arts. The use of the Rākau, in all its ways and means, is a tool to help people discover the places and parts of the body that are challenged. It will always move the user to some level of understanding and knowing of oneself that may have been forgotten or thought one lacked. The feet are considered the gateway to the body, so therefore must be worked on first. To open the body up, ignite the internal organs and to instantly bring people into the here and now.

A sequence is used to work sections of the feet which correspond to sections of the torso. The movement is slow to get the depth needed to release stored tension, stress & trauma. The work will trigger memories, injuries, and past life patterns. It’s not about causing pain, it’s about awakening the body, mind & spirit.

Join Megan Read, a registered romiromi, mirimiri and mahi rākau practitioner, in this guided self help/healing session to learn more about this Māori healing art.
